Sultan Ibrahim Stadium Guide: Parking, Layout and Tours

 About Johor
Posted by Precious on 27 Oct 2026

Sultan Ibrahim Stadium sits in Iskandar Puteri, in the Gelang Patah area of Johor, and it is the home ground of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT). It holds 40,000 spectators and has been the club's base since 2020. If you search for the stadium, you will see both place names, which can be confusing. Gelang Patah is part of the Iskandar Puteri area, so both names point to the same place.

This guide covers how to get there, where to park, how the stadium is laid out and whether you should come for a match or a tour. We also list what you can do nearby once you are done.

How to Get to Sultan Ibrahim Stadium by Car

Driving is the most flexible way to reach the stadium, because the venue sits away from the city centre and public transport runs on fixed timetables. Set your navigation to Sultan Ibrahim Stadium rather than a street name.

From Johor Bahru City

Most drivers from central Johor Bahru take the Iskandar Coastal Highway and follow the signs to the stadium. If you do not have a car, you can collect one from JB Sentral or the JohorBook HUB through our car rental service in Johor Bahru.

From Senai International Airport

The stadium is about 32 kilometres from Senai International Airport, which is usually a 30 to 40 minute drive depending on traffic. Our Senai Airport car rental guide explains how pick-up works, so you can collect a car at the airport and drive straight there.

From Singapore

You can cross by the Causeway or the Second Link, and the Second Link usually has lighter queues. Add extra time for border formalities, especially on weekends and match nights. We accept Singapore driving licences, and our guide on how Singaporeans can rent a car in Johor Bahru walks through the steps.

Public Transport and Match-Day Shuttles

Public transport to the stadium works, but it takes more planning than driving. There is no direct bus from JB Sentral or the Johor Bahru checkpoint, so most visitors change at Larkin Sentral.

Bus Services From Larkin Sentral

A Causeway Link bus, service J40, has run from Larkin Sentral to a stop outside the stadium in about 40 to 50 minutes. Timetables change, so confirm the first and last departures before you travel, especially for an evening match.

Match-Day Shuttles

For larger fixtures, free fan shuttles have run to the stadium from park-and-ride points. Because these arrangements are announced per match, check JDT's official announcements for the fixture you plan to attend.

Taxis and E-Hailing

Grab is available, but expect heavier traffic on match nights, and the trip out after full time is slower because everyone leaves at once. Our comparison of car rental vs e-hailing around Johor Bahru shows why having your own car helps on busy nights.

Parking at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium

Parking is easy on a tour day and needs more planning on a match day. In both cases, arriving early solves most problems.

Parking Zone 5 for Tour Visitors

Tour guests park at Parking Zone 5, which is near the ticket counter. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your first activity for registration and a briefing. Bags are stored at the ticket counter, because large bags are not allowed inside.

Match-Day Parking

Spaces fill quickly before kick-off, and the walk from a distant lot can be long. Aim to arrive well before the match so you are not circling for a space while the crowd builds.

Stadium Layout: Stands, Gates and Seating Plan

The stadium holds 40,000 spectators. Check your match ticket for your stand and gate before you leave home, then follow the signage once you reach the stadium precinct.

Finding Your Seat

The quickest way to find your place is to match the details on your ticket with the signs around the stadium. On a tour, your guide leads the route, so stands and gates are not something you need to plan for.

2025 Upgrades: Corporate Boxes and the Red & Blue Lounge

Ahead of the 2025-26 season, Malay Mail reported that the stadium added 12 corporate boxes, each able to host up to 20 guests. It also added two premium lounges, including the Red & Blue Lounge, for matchday hospitality.

Match Day or Stadium Tour: Which Way to See the Stadium

A match shows you the stadium full of fans, while a tour lets you walk through the areas that spectators never see. The table below compares both with the four tour options we offer.

When a Match Day Makes Sense

Choose a match if you want the atmosphere, the noise and the full-capacity crowd. Match tickets are handled through JDT's official channels, so check there for prices and fixtures. We do not sell match tickets.

When a Stadium Tour Makes Sense

Choose a tour if you want to see the inside of the stadium at your own pace, with no crowd and no kick-off time to plan around. The JDT Stadium Tour page lists all four options, and our JDT Stadium Tour blog shows what each one covers.

The Full Tour Experience also includes the warm-up gym, recovery pool, mini museum and a pitch-side photo session. Book at least one day in advance, because tickets are non-refundable once the voucher is issued.

Planning Your Visit to Sultan Ibrahim Stadium
